President Boris Yeltsin of Russia invited Dr. Bloom to stay in the presidential palace in Moscow as his consultant and special advisor. Upon arrival in Moscow, Bloom was gifted a MiG fighter jet and sat in the pilot’s seat for a photo. For some reason, Bloom was given an extensive tour and escorted throughout the entire KGB building.
Dr. Bloom was also asked to develop a plan to sell Russian products worldwide. Because of Bloom’s experience with managing champion boxers, he was asked to evaluate Russia’s four Heavyweight Champions. So he organized a tournament, where Leonard was referee and judge, to see which Russian Heavyweight he would take back to the U.S. The plan was to set up a World Championship bout that could make the Russian the World Heavyweight Champion.
