At 38, Leonard Bloom became the sole owner of a professional basketball team, the ABA’s San Diego Conquistadors featuring Wilt Chamberlain, which became the NBA Clippers. He also became the sole owner of the professional Los Angeles hockey team, the WHA’s Los Angeles Sharks. Bloom also founded World Team Tennis (WTT) with Billie Jean King, and was the sole owner of the San Diego Swingers WTT franchise.
WILT CHAMBERLAIN signed with the San Diego Conquistadors as a player-coach, but only coached the first year.
